Community battery
We call it a district hub.

The neighbourhood battery. You often hear this term and that is not so strange, because neighbourhood batteries play a major role in the construction of new residential areas in grid congestion areas. Read all about the neighbourhood battery, or rather: neighbourhood hub.

Why a district hub?

Grid congestion can prevent a residential area from being built because there is no space on the overcrowded power grid. With the increasing shortage of homes, this is not a good development.

A district hub ensures that the residential area can get there and can count on a reliable power supply. And this despite the limitations due to grid congestion.

What is a district hub?

A district hub is a concept that makes it possible to realise residential areas, despite the limitations of grid congestion. This can be achieved through a combination of accurate measuring, smart control of devices and the addition of capacity.

It is also called a neighborhood battery in the market, but we find that term really too narrow. It only refers to the additional power that is supplied by a battery, and ignores the measuring and control of devices and additional power. This additional power can be a battery, but it does not have to be.

The term energy hub we do not use for residential areas either. This solution is for businesses and business parks. The dynamics and approach within a residential area is substantially different than within (a group of) businesses.
